Behind every successful man…

Next week begins premiere week for my favorite TV network – CBS – and the 8th season of Criminal Minds, which is the only show I watch on television these days.

(Writing takes a lot of time. And it’s easier to give up TV than to give up time with the kids or the hubster. Although I suppose I could give up eating. It might not hurt.)

Anyway, in honor of the occasion, here’s a pretty picture.

This deliciousness, of course, is Shemar Moore, who plays Special Supervisory Agent Derek Morgan on Criminal Minds. Alpha male, noir hero, the guy who always kicks down the door and subdues the suspect.

Who can resist a hot alpha hero?

What makes Derek Morgan so much fun, though – other than the fact that he’s extremely easy on the eyes – is his relationship with FBI technical analyst Penelope Garcia. Garcia is Morgan’s Moneypenny.

If that reference is lost on you, you obviously don’t know your Bond. James Bond went out and saved the world while Miss Moneypenny manned the office. Just like Penelope Garcia. And where Bond couldn’t do his job without ‘Penny,’ Morgan couldn’t do his without Penelope.

There’s a lot of flirtation, quite a lot of sexual tension, no sex, and a whole lot of affection in their relationship, and the witty banter just makes my little heart sing. I love witty banter!

For your enjoyment, here’s a clip from season 2, episode 17, in which Morgan is in Texas on a case, and Garcia is back at Quantico, manning the computers.

If I recall correctly, there’s a little bit of gratuitous Shemar Moore semi–nakedness added, that wasn’t part of the original episode, but just suffer through it. And when you’ve watched it a couple of times, because I know you’ll want to, tell me if you have a favorite variation of the boss and secretary pairing.

I must say I’m partial to this one myself. There’s no alpha male/sweet and docile office drone here. Morgan may kick down doors and kick ass generally, but Garcia is the best of the best at her job too. Their chemistry is off the charts, and their back-and-forth is just damned funny, besides the fact that there’s a little Penelope Garcia in all of us, I think. Don’t we all just love the idea that the not-quite-perfect girl can land the hot hunk?

My fingers are crossed for something good this season!

If you feel inclined to visit, my own hot hunk, Derek Ellis from the DIY mysteries – Wall to Wall Dead just stayed on the New York Times print list for another week! – is visiting Dru Ann Love’s blog today, for her Day In The Life Of… series. Stop by and see how Derek prepares for one of the most important days of his life – and the first scene in the book!

Pay, so I haven’t seen a lot of these episodes but I have to say the bits I have seen I’ve been kind of squcked out by their relationship. Doesn’t he call her baby girl or baby doll or something? I don’t know, it’s always hit my ick meter. I kind of get the feeling that he’s humouring the fat chick?
But yeh, haven’t seen a lot and that scene was cute so maybe i need to persevere…

    Tip toeing away…..

LOL! He calls her Baby Girl. And maybe I’m just hopelessly unfeminist, but if someone called me Baby Girl in that voice, I wouldn’t mind at all. ;)

Criminal Minds has always been one of my favorite shows! Nobody does tv like CBS. Shemar Moore is pretty sweet to look at. I remember when he used to be on The Young and the Restless. He looks as good now as he did back then. I do have to say I really like the character Dr. Spencer Reid. There is something endearing about his character and how awkward he can be and I think he’s pretty cute as well!

Dr. Reid is adorable. The main character in my second SFR is a bit like that: the youngest, the – probably, at least outwardly – smartest, the most innocent, and the one who can do card tricks. :D

I never saw The Young and The Restless, but I’ve seen pictures, and yes, he’s still got his looks. Not bad at all for 40+!
