Some heroes deserve a special Goddess shout out. They are Kings among Men.
They are courageous.
They are brave.
They are loyal.
Above all, they are honorable.
Here are some of our favorite Kings Among Men (as represented by the characters they play in movies) and in real life.
Rhett Butler, played by Clark Gable
Gladiator, played by Russell Crowe
McGyver has been described as “James Bond met Bob Villa”. He’s a classic combination of warrior and a clever professor. Mac could save the world with his smarts, a pack of gum, and pocket knife.
Robin Hood and his band of “Merry Men” go head-to-head with the Sheriff of Nottingham. Robin Hood is the stuff of legend. He’s a thieving swashbuckler with the best of intentions.
Marty McFly, from Back to the Future, is an ordinary pofessor-like skateboarding kid who manages to travel back in time, change the course of the future, make it right again, and in the process, improve the lives of his lost parents.
William Thatcher, A Knight’s Tale hottie is a warrior and a lost soul. Whatever he can to change his stars. Plus he’s pretty damn good with a lance.
Samwise Gamgee, is not only is he best friend to Frodo in Lord of the Rings, he’s the best friend hero. He helped Frodo not succumb to the allure of the ring and he helped Frodo destroy it.
Obi Wan Kenobi is definitely the professor in the Star Wars saga. He teaches Luke how to feel the force and defend against the dark side.
Captain Jean Luc Picard is obviously the chief hero guiding the Starship from Star Trek the Next Generation. As the star ship captain, one always feels that he was legitimately worried about his crew.
Aragon is a warrior at heart by protecting Frodo on their journey back with the ring in Lord of the Rings.
Harry Potter, the boy wizard is not only the best friend to Ron, or the straight A student at Hog’s Wart, he’s a warrior with the best of them. He fights for the good of all wizards.
The Die Hard franchise’s hero, John McClane is kind of fascinating as the warrior. He believes his strength overcomes any and all justice.
Han Solo from Star Wars, is a bit of a charmer by seducing Princess Leia and part warrior defending Millennium falcon.
The weathered Fedora, bullwhip, perpetual five o’clock shadow, and an overly pessimistic outlook, Indiana Jones is definitely professor with a little bit of warrior. He pits himself against Nazis, Chinese gangsters, sinister religious sects and snakes.
