Comic Book Heroes

First of all, I have to confess that I’m not a comic book reader so my experiences thus far with these mighty masses of muscled manhood are strictly from films. And I didn’t think I’d enjoy the films, to be honest. But oh how those hunky heroes changed my mind :-) My two front runners….Thor and Iron Man.

Thor has the reformed bad boy thing going on, not to mention the rippling biceps and rock hard abs of a god. I’ve also been a mythology lover for as long as I can remember so enjoy that aspect of his character. Iron Man/Tony Stark – first of all, Robert Downey Jr *swoon* – but I also love a guy with a huge IQ and he’s got the brains, metallic brawn, and a layer of sarcastic smart-assery that keeps me chuckling.

Captain America is totally sigh worthy but is a little too nice for me…I like my heroes with a streak of naughty ;-)

I think it’s partly the flaws that draw me to some of these characters. Thor with his arrogance, who learns the error of his ways. A man once worshipped as a god who falls in love with a mere mortal (though I love that she’s a super smart scientist in the movies – LOVE a strong heroine who is more than just a damsel in distress). And good ol’ Tony, Mr. Flaw Central, who manages to put all that massive brain power to good use…and (at least in the movies) falls in love with his super smart assistant and is willing to risk it all for her.

There’s just something about watching these amazingly larger-than-life characters love their women that is heart gripping. There’s nothing I love more than a good love story and with heroes such as these, it raises the romance to a whole new level.

I’m just discovering the wonderful world of comic book heroes. Who are your favorites?

    Hi Michelle!

I’ve never been a comic book person either, I think they were originally designed for the male reader. But what’s interesting, is the romance that these stories have in them. It’s not just about getting lucky, it’s about people who are near and dear to the super-hero’s heart. So I think as you kids, we missed the boat on these hunky men ;)

  2. Very true. The romance plot lines are much more about the romance than instant gratification. I’m definitely going to have to take up comic book reading lol

  3. Hey Michelle! I’ve never been into comic books, either. But I’m glad the movies introduced me to a couple of heroes! I think you picked the two best. Thor is just drool worthy (would it mean I’m warped it I admit to liking Loki?) and Iron Man. His snarky mouth is just too cute not to like.

<3 Ironman all the way! Tony Stark in or out of his metal suit does it for me. Closely followed by Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. Yowza! ;)

I think I would have written this same post word for word. We apparently have the same taste in men! Robert Downey Jr. Yum. You really don’t even have to mention Iron Man. He is Iron Man in personality if not ability to create superhero suits!
