Hello Naked Hero readers! Happy Valentine’s Day + Happy President’s Day!
Seems like we’re always celebrating something, doesn’t it?
Nearly every month there’s something to look forward to, from big holidays like Christmas and Easter to the smaller ones like Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day or Veterans Day. As humans, we’re drawn to the idea of something to look forward to (and if sugary foods are involved, it’s even better!)
The funny thing is, for all we enjoy celebration in our lives, our books are surprisingly quiet. Of course there are books that use holidays as themes or settings, but by and large, our books are about the extraordinary happening in our day-to-day lives. Larger-than-life heroes and heroines put into circumstances that force them to better understand themselves and each other.
Maybe that’s why I read romance. I love the idea that every day holds the possibility of the extraordinary. Every day might be the day we work to live a better version of our selves. And every day holds the possibility of meeting someone special.
Yep – holidays are great (I’m still on a sugar high from Valentine’s), but give me a good old fashioned romance any day of the week and I’m a happy gal!
What about you? Why do you read romance and what types of romances do you enjoy? Stories that focus on the every day and making it special or stories that take you out of the every day into another world?
Happy Reading!
Addison

Loved the post, Addison. I love reading romance because I’m guaranteed a happy ending–and I read all types of romances. Just depends on the mood I’m in, but I’m always in the mood for one of your books. What’s next for you?

Thanks for joining us today! And I couldn’t agree more – that happy ending gets me every time!
Next up is the second book in my Billionaires & Boardrooms series, MERGER TO MARRIAGE, in May. And speaking of what’s next, I am EAGERLY awaiting the next book in your Lost Lords of Pembrook series. Sebastian and Tristan were yummy….I’ve no doubt Rafe will be smokin’!!!

Whether it’s everyday or extraordinary circumstances, I love romances that make a couple work hard for the HEA. Then you know they’ll make it through anything

Excellent point, Robyn!!!
We really do put our characters through their paces. It’s all part of the fun of writing their stories. But it’s also the proof that they truly belong together in the end.

Anything that makes them work for it is good for me. If there’s holiday drama added in usually it just makes it funnier in my opinion
