Joseph Cambell : The Hero with a Thousand Faces changed the way we look at heroes and is the foundation for Christopher Vogler’s The Writer’s Journey/The Hero’s Journey.
45 Master Characters : Victoria Schmidt takes the work of her predecessors and adapts the mythic archetypes, breaking them into 45 Master Characters. Another great character resource book.
The Complete Writer’s Guide to Hero and Heroine Archetypes : Tami Cowden, Caro LaFeveer, and Sue Viders took the concept of archetypes and broke them into sixteen master archetypes in this informative book on the subject.
