Hello Naked Hero readers!

I was thinking through what I wanted to talk about today and realized I had a ready topic – friends. We make friends throughout our lives and some stay for the long haul, while some are there for a defined period of time. In the end, I don’t think the duration matters so much as the actual times we share together. Those moments that bring joy and laughter, maybe a few tears or just a shoulder to cry on.

One of the things I most love to explore as a writer is the whole concept of relationships. Certainly the core relationship in the story – the hero and heroine – is an important focus, but the other relationships in these characters’ lives matter as well. There’s no better place to explore this than with family and friends.

I feel incredibly blessed to know there are people out there reading my work – sharing their time with my characters and taking them into their heart. That is such a privilege as an author. What has been equally rewarding is when readers have commented on my story and mentioned they loved the “girlfriend parts” or mention a funny scene between my heroine and her friends.

I like to think in these scenes I’ve channeled some of my most pure moments of friendship in my own life. The moments I’ve spent with friends that have lifted me up. Or consoled me. Or just flat out made me laugh.

What do you think? When you read, do you prefer stories focused solely on the hero and heroine or do you like to see scenes of them in their lives outside of each other?

Yes, its Pinterest. Man - is that some crack or what???

It’s an amazingly visual time suck and man, what about those men? Whooo daddy! There is some seriously spicy hero material on that site!

Being the Goddess of Murder and Mayhem, I asked the family to take me to see Iron Man 3 for Mother’s Day. I really enjoyed it!  In fact, it might’ve been my favorite of the series so far…  Why?

This was the first one that we get to really see a big chink in Tony Stark’s cocky armor. He’s your typical “player” hero. He’s been the rich, intelligent, good looking guy who can have any woman he likes. No long-term commitments, no worries.

But over the course of the franchise, he’s fallen in love with Pepper and his world has tilted. When he spoke this line to Pepper: “Things are different now, I have to protect the one thing that I can’t live without. That’s you.”

It really struck me.

The hero in my next release, Moonlight, faces that same realization. Adam is the eldest son of the Pack Alpha, and while the Pack has been pressuring him to stop womanizing and find his mate to settle down, Adam doesn’t believe the mate for life instinct is real. He enjoys a life with no ties, no commitments except to his horses.

But when he crosses paths with a woman on the run, the axis of his world tilts when he realizes she’s it. His mate. The one thing he can’t live without.

And he’s not sure he can keep her safe…

I love watching a hero who has reveled in being a “Player” grow into a real man who realizes there is nothing sweeter in life than one woman who makes him feel like a superhero.
