The Forgotten Hero

Heroes can come in many forms. Usually I think of a hero as big, strong, sculpted with muscles…you know, the typical fantastical kind. The kind that sweep me off my feet, make my heart thump faster, and arouse desire. The knight in shining amour. We all love those heroes, right?

Well slap my hands because there are other equality stimulating heroes and I tend to forget about them. (Yes, I’m confessing.)

For today’s post, I’m going to talk about those who are super smart, witty, tall, thin, not a people person, irritating but cute, and full of laughter (among other things). I love to laugh and every time I watch The Big Bang Theory I can’t stop laughing. The characters are witty and unique, but can also be frustrating and difficult to understand. I love them. They are not eye candy, but they still capture my attention. And they got me thinking.

Many times when I write I create the typical type of hero, not the geeky kind. Shame on me. The geeky kind can be just as attractive. While a hero may not have the muscles or crazy sexy looks, he can make up for those details in personality or some other quality. They may not save lives directly, but solve big problems and their efforts could save lives indirectly. Geeks are attractive in their own special way. Strip away the little annoyances and there’s a good heart and soul. That’s what it all boils down to, right?

What do you think ladies, do we need more geeky heroes like Sheldon in our world? LOL

Love the Big Bang Theory! One geek hero I totally adored was Russell Crowe’s portrayal of John Nash in a Beautiful Mind. What a strong proud man who was all about brain rather than brawn.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Big Bang!
I think geeks can make good heroes and really enjoyed VLT’s Geek series she did.
I’m actually writing a Sheldon-esque heroine at the moment and man, is that hard! And it seemed like such a good idea at the time…I think we’re used to writing emotinal characters or at least charcaters capable of emotion – those who have logic running through their veins are much much harder to make likeable!

  6. SHELDON!!!! I love Big Bang Theory!!!! I seriously wished they’d have offered Jim Parsons “Spock” instead of Zachary Quinto. He’d have been so awesome and think of all the jokes they could have made later.

PS Best episode is still the CHristmas episode where Penny got him the napkin.
