Top Ten Holiday Heroes from My Favorite Holiday Movies

It’s BlOg HoP time!   Which means it’s time to get Entangled Under the Mistletoe!

Over 50 authors are participating, so there are a ton of chances to win fantastic prizes from your favourite authors!

As a participant in the holiday blog hop, I am writing about my top 10+ holiday heroes from movies.  They come in all different shapes and sizes, all different ages, and they all help fill me with a little Christmas spirit.  Yes, many of them are cheesy and are from cheesy movies, but I love them!  LOVE. THEM.  I could watch a Christmas movie every night throughout December and would be so completely happy.

I’m a holiday pushover.

Also, I’m indecisive.  I considered other heroes: Chevy Chase.  The kid from The Christmas Story.  The Little Drummer Boy.  Adam Sandler, just because I love The Hanukkah Song.  I left these guys off my list and still had ties.  Picking the order was also tough.  I’m also fickle, so it changes.  But for today, and for the Holiday Blog Hop…

Behold.  My TOP TEN HOLIDAY HEROES LIST FROM MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY MOVIES!

10. Three Way Tie: Howard Langston, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, in Jingle All the Way, Yukon Cornelius and Hermy the misfit elf both from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

9. Kevin McAllister, played by Macaulay Culkin, in Home Alone

8. A tie: The Heat Miser and the Cold Miser in The Year Without a Santa Claus

7. Charlie Brown in A Charlie Brown Christmas, played by Charlie Brown

6. Also from Love, Actually (one of my favorite holiday movies), Colin Firth who plays Jamie

5. David, the Prime Minister, from Love, Actually, as played by Hugh Grant

4. John McLane, played by Bruce Willis, in Die Hard (yes, I consider this a Christmas movie)

3. George Bailey from It’s a Wonderful Life, played by Jimmy Stewart

2. Santa Claus(e), in The Santa Clause, played by Tim Allen

1.The Grinch in How the Grinch Stole Christmas, played by the Grinch

Now it’s your turn.  Who tops your holiday heroes from holiday movies list?

The hop runs from December 7th to 14th.  Below is a list of participating authors, some of whom hang out right here on The Naked Hero!

  1. I’m a sap. An old-fashioned sap. I like Bing Crosby in Holiday Inn. I like Bing Crosby in anything, basically. And no, I don’t mean that in a dirty way. But Holiday Inn is my favorite Christmas movie, even though it takes place over a whole year. It starts and ends at Christmas, though. And Bing sings “White Christmas” TWICE. :) (I do like the movie White Christmas too. With Bing.)

And I like the Grinch. The cartoon Grinch. The live-action one, not so much. And I’ll risk the rotten tomatoes and say I can’t stand either It’s a Wonderful Life or Elf, both beloved by the rest of the family. Watching Elf – other than the second-to-final scene, which makes me cry – is like nails on a chalkboard. Sorry.

Elf… not a fan, either! But Jimmy Stewart in It’s a Wonderful Life is an all time favorite!! But I do like Bing Cosby.

Jimmie Stewart in It’s a Wonderful Life. I hadn’t really seen the entire movie until a few years ago. My husband is the all time surfer champion. He falls asleep with the remote in his hand and sometimes changes the channel. Sometimes is just way tooo funny, other times, it’s downright maddening. The Christmas Vacation movies are great too. Chevy can’t be beat.

  25. Jamie says:

Linus Van Pelt from Charlie Brown. I love his speech on what Christmas is all about. George Bailey from “It’s a Wonderful Life.” The Grinch, of course. Tim Allen as Santa Claus. It’s so hard to pick just one.

  26. Michelle Fidler says:

I love Jingle All the Way, too. I about died laughing the first time I saw it. I bought it on V.H.S. in the 90′s and still have it. It’s about time someone put it on their list of favorite X-mas movies. I also love A Christmas Carol (George C. Scott or Patrick Stewart versions). I like Home Alone, even the T.V. sequels.
